Soil Greenhouse Gas Emissions in Different Pastures Implemented as a Management Strategy for Climate Change

چکیده

The increase in global average temperature has significant implications for food security and agriculture production. Grass species adapted to new climate scenarios are essential the success of livestock aim this study was evaluate different forage species, providing animal feed during critical dry periods as an adaptation strategy grazing systems, its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. field experiment conducted September 2015 2017, with four treatments (n = 5, completely randomized block design), including two perennial forages, Bromus valdivianus (Bromus), Lotus corniculatus (Lotus), alone a mixture pasture (Br/L). As control treatment, commonly seeded by farmer used (hybrid ryegrasses + Oat, Control). One-half plots nitrous oxide (N2O) methane (CH4) measurements, remaining half destructive soil sampling. Gas fluxes were measured using static chambers technique. Cumulative emissions N–N2O, C–CH4 CO2?eq not affected treatments, averaging 1.7 kg N–N2O ha?1, 3.2 ha?1 635.5 CO2 respectively (p > 0.05). However, emission intensity tended be lower Br/L compared other 0.06) second year, while yield greater < showed (first years) highest metabolizable energy lowest crude protein content. Our results suggest that mix management would promote farm adaptation, given it favors at year. This inclusion also reduces from grassland soils well favoring capture. determined regulated variables, mainly moisture temperature. Extension knowledge transfer should provided farmers account potential adoption barriers, such low short-term yield.

Climate change. Recent reductions in China's greenhouse gas emissions.

T he prevailing wisdom about China's greenhouse gas emissions is that they are increasing steadily, because of the large quantities of coal being used to fuel a fast-growing industrial economy, and most projections show China's greenhouse gas emissions continuing to grow in the coming decades (1). However, we find that China's CO 2 emissions declined by 7.3% between 1996 (the peak year) and 200...

Composting as a Strategy to Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Composting animal manure has the potential to reduce emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O) and methane (CH4) from agriculture. Agriculture has been recognized as a major contributor of greenhouse gases, releasing an estimated 81% and 70% of the anthropogenic emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O) and methane (CH4), respectively. A significant amount of methane is emitted during the storage of liquid manur...

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and adapting agricultural management for climate change in developing countries: providing the basis for action.

Agriculture in developing countries has attracted increasing attention in international negotiations within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change for both adaptation to climate change and greenhouse gas mitigation. However, there is limited understanding about potential complementarity between management practices that promote adaptation and mitigation, and limited basis to ...

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions for climate stabilization: framing regional options.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has stated that stabilizing atmospheric CO2 concentrations will require reduction of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by as much as 80% by 2050. Subnational efforts to cut emissions will inform policy development nationally and globally. We projected GHG mitigation strategies for Minnesota, which has adopted a strategic goal of 80% emiss...
